Sharing a common life

Welcome to the Porvoo Communion website. On this website you will find information about the nature of the communion, its members, history and activities.

The Porvoo Communion is a communion of churches that have signed an agreement to "share a common life in mission and service". These churches are either Anglican or Lutheran. The Porvoo churches agree on certain fundamental issues, but Porvoo is not a new confession. The churches maintain their respective identities.

The Porvoo Communion has no central or overhead. In every church there is a contact person for Porvoo and these contact persons meet every year. Two bishops ar co-moderatiors of the Provoo Contact group, one from the Lutheran family and one from the Anglican family and two co-secretaries, also from both church families.
