THE NORDIC CHURCHES
THEOLOGY, CHURCHMANSHIP, PARISH LIFE

Uppsala 24-27 April 2008
This is an invitation to get to know the Nordic Churches (with a special emphasis on The Church of Sweden), their theology and spirituality better.

The days in Uppsala will give you an overview of the Nordic Churches; their theology, the diverse spiritual traditions and the character of ordinary parish life. It will include study visits to Stockholm and the medieval Cathedrals of Uppsala and Stockholm and give the participants an opportunity to meet with colleagues.

During the Conference the following topics will be covered:

  • The Nordic religious model
  • Spirituality in the Nordic Churches (similarities, differences)
  • Liturgical tradition and development
  • Church organization
  • The process of disestablishment of the Churches
  • Parish life
  • The role of the priest
  • Current theological debates: human sexuality
  • Anglican priests and the Porvoo Common statement

The conference will be held in English.

PREPARING FOR MINSTRY IN ANGLICAN CHURCHES WITHIN THE PORVOO AGREEMENT

FOR WHOM?
The introductory course is for those who consider serving in an Anglican parish, through the Porvoo Agreement. The Church of England recommends clergy to attend this course before applying for a position within the CofE. As the course comprises Anglican theology; guidance through the liturgy; hymnbook information and Anglican churchmanship it is also recommended for everyone interested in learning more about Anglican churches. During the course you will be informed of different options for ministry in Anglican Churches.
